Best seat in the house
Björn Lundström began his career at SAS in 1985, and unfortunately, there was no Instagram at the time. And anyone who’s seen his photos knows we certainly do mean “unfortunately”.
“Apparently, I sit in the best spot for photos of flying since I’m in the cockpit,” he says.
Today, “BjornPilot” has about 20,000 followers who can admire his photos of cities at night, planes crisscrossing the sky, crew members, and other photos taken from and of the cockpit (and these days, even videos).
“Flight duty is naturally always my top priority and the camera stays in the bag until we get to 10,000 feet. During cruise it helps to look out the window so I stay alert, and taking pictures is a good way to do that,” he says.
The camera he uses is an Olympus OM-D M1. Another essential tool is his selfierod, which he bought in Beijing.
“I love the camera, because the photos are great, and it’s small and fits easily inside my flight bag. I even have some old 1980s objectives that I can get to work with the camera,” he says.
